Hayne is a beautifully restored Grade II * listed farmstead

set in the rolling hills of rural mid Devon.

The 17th century site looks out towards sacred groves of ancient woodland and lies at the heart of 25 acres of glorious grounds and enchanting walled gardens. Hayne is south facing and gets the first and last of the sun.  It has breath taking views across the valley which steps down to a bend in the river Yeo.

Musicians and hosts, Tim & Milla have spent the past five years with the help of English Heritage, a conservation officer and local master craftsmen in restoring the derelict farm buildings in order to launch a fully fledged wedding and events space with luxurious holiday accommodation and Glampsite.  With a passion for beautiful character buildings and landscape, warm spacious interiors and Milla’s self-confessed obsession with white cotton bed linen, Indian quilts and super comfortable beds, the couple have created a very unique and magical place to stay.

Stay at Hayne offers the following
in house accommodation:

The Long Barn

sleeps up to 10

The Long Barn at Hayne is attached to the main thatched farmhouse where hosts Tim and Milla live with their children, Martha and George. When Hayne was a working farm, The Long Barn would have been used to house the sheep, pigs, cows and chickens. Today, the cob and lime barn has been restored to stylish and colourful life, with stunning 17th century joinery, under floor heated oak boards, sculpted lime walls (there are no straight lines here!), eco friendly earthborne paint, handmade Morrocan tiles, reclaimed and designer lighting, cast iron roll top baths & reclaimed sinks, local slate flooring, and large floor to ceiling windows letting in plenty of light.

It has a deeply comfortable open plan living area with sofas galore, a raised kitchen area with a long farmhouse table and further living space on a balconied sitting room, giving space for everyone to spread out and relax. Each bedroom has its own unique character. There are two ensuite doubles and a handcrafted bunk room with an ensuite Moroccan tiled shower room. Art adorns the walls, beds are draped in Indian quilts and the lighting is impeccable. White Egyptian cotton bed linen and fluffy white towels are included in the hire price.

The Shepherd’s Hut

sleeps 2 Adults + 2 little ones on roll up mattresses

Our handcrafted tin & oak Shepherd’s Hut sits in the middle of the apple orchard with views out across the valley below. Perfect for 2 adults, although there is enough floor space for 2 little ones on roll up mattresses at an additional cost for linen and towels. It has been painted with eco Earthborne paint, has a fold down oak table, handmade shelves, shutters and curtains, hooks to hang clothes, proper opening & closing oak and glass windows and a sweet handcrafted kitchen area complete with Belfast sink and running water. The Shepherd’s Hut also has vintage style lighting and plug sockets for radio/ music/ phone charging etc

To keep you as snug as a bug we have installed a windy smithy wood burning stove which keeps the hut fabulously warm and cosy in even the harshest Devon weather conditions. The bed boasts a luxurious topper, soft as down duvet and pillows, beautiful Indian quilt and white Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels. The hire price includes use of the beautifully renovated Milking Parlour complete with under floor heating, hot showers and loos.

The Long Barn was super-comfortable, cosy and well equipped with everything needed for a weekend in the countryside. The setting and location were stunning. Tim and Milla have lovingly restored the ancient building using time-honored techniques, and the overall effect is totally unique. The Long Barn will live long in the memory.”

Alistair Rhodes

We loved The Long Barn at Hayne which was beautifully designed and very comfortable. Communication throughout was excellent. Milla very kindly left toys and art supplies for the children, as well as a list of suggestions of things to do in the area. We were lucky with the weather and found so much to see and do – it was a brilliant week.

Maya Lyttleton

We stayed in The Big Yurt and we had one of the best nights sleep in a long time and would highly recommend a stay at Hayne to anyone fancying something a little different and a break from the old routine. The setting of Hayne is ideal for a quiet break to the Devon countryside and the team made us feel very welcome during our weekend.

Stephen & Dee

The Long Barn was peaceful, beautifully renovated and very well equipped. Milla, Tim and her family were warm and welcoming and catered for our every need.
Our stay was enchanting and we really couldn’t have asked for more.

Roberta Puvanachandra

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the wonderful stay in the Shepherd’s Hut! What a truly amazing space!

Gail Jones

The Long Barn was amazing and completely unique. The barn was very well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. A fantastic place to stay!

Emma Waterhouse

We had a HEAVENLY time staying in Long Barn. The set up was perfect for our group of two families including 4 children. The space is arranged brilliantly, making it comfortable and great fun to cook/eat/hang out together as well as there being room to get away from everyone for some quiet time. The choice of furniture and colours is wonderfully soulful and the setting could not be more magical. I can’t recommend it more highly!

Nicola & Andy Harding

A beautifully converted barn on the outskirts of Dartmoor, what a wonderful find Long Barn was. We were greeted by friendly and accommodating hosts and found everything we could desire for a comfortable and affordable stay. Can highly recommend this barn and will definitely without doubt stay again.
